SmileWizard® is the brainchild of Dawson dentistry experts who wanted to empower dentists of all levels with a powerful treatment planning app that safeguards Functional Occlusion and Dawson principles.

SmileWizard® was designed to be a 'Dawson Dentists's step-by-step checklist for complete treatment planning. No other treatment planning software combines the principles of functional occlusion with all the elements of a complete examination.

Our Mission

1954 – Dr. Dawson served two years in the United State’s Air Force and was stationed in Tachiwaka, Japan.

1956 – Returned home and opened his first dental practice.

1961  Dawson began teaching his one-man lecture series, “Concepts of Complete Dentistry”.

1979  Dawson Academy was founded for Advanced Dental Study, and he also developed a complete curriculum for advanced postgraduate study. Since then, more than 40,000 dental professionals have learned to solve complex dental problems using the principles of occlusion that Dawson developed.

2008 – The Dawson Academy had the idea to digitize the collection of complete exam data and the 2D and 3D checklists they were doing on paper.  

2009 – Development soon started on the Dawson Diagnostic Wizard with Travis Wilhelmsen as the product owner and 3 main doctors leading as the clinical board:  Dr. Drew Cobb, Dr. John Cranham, and Dr. Peter Dawson.  Hundreds of doctors were then able to complete exams effortlessly and efficiently. 

2020 – Travis continued to support the software for years until it needed to be rewritten in a more modern technology stack. Ultimately the software was sold to Travis and then rebranded to SmileWizard.

2023 – Travis employs a marketing & management team for growth and increasing SmileWizard user experience. Further development of software and integration with more academic institutions ensues.
